Malin and her colleagues dug deep into coffee and tea cultures to find out what tools people feel they can’t live without. They talked to specialists and investigated living, eating and drinking habits. “We wanted to develop items that make a difference, so we’ve focused on a few, but carefully selected products,” she states. The team cooperated with IKEA Test Lab in Älmhult, Sweden. It’s an IKEA version of a James Bond lab where prototypes are inspected and evaluated. “A couple of the things we checked were that the thermoses can keep fluids really warm for a long time. And that the glass mugs and glass pots are durable and comfortable, even though they look and feel light and airy,” says Malin.

The battery installment is the only problemYayoiThe batteries installation required a lot of effort. You have to really push the first battery inside and even after the second one goes in, now you have to really push the cover so that it closes. I was afraid it might break, which many who bought this might experience. I also wondered if the AA batteries were the right ones to use. This was a bit of a rare frustrating experience while I love IKEA for the ease of assembling furnitures overall.

Battery Installation Difficulties!PerryAfter spending 20 frustrating minutes wrestling with this thing, I finally figured how to install the batteries. You have to make certain the first battery “clicks” into place by pressing it firmly toward the inner wall at the hinged end of the cap. If you don’t do this, there won’t be room for the second battery. BUT, the opening really isn’t large enough for most human beings to do this with a finger, so you’ll need use something rigid and thin enough to reach inside the casing. I used a specialized knife I happen to own. Whatever you use, it is NOT easy and there is no intuitive way to know what is required. IKEA definitely should redesign this product, making battery installation simpler. The good news is it does work once you figure out how to install the batteries.

The others from big brands are great n super fast but they make a mess n overspill the liquids from mugs. Good for jugs though. So i stick with this for my morning milk coffee :)

Place the other PT (AA) in the other side where they will be most intimately involved. Wipe sweat off brow and unclench teeth. Repeat if not successful at first.

This item should either be removed from inventory or ReDesign it since the premise of the IKEA brand is functional, groovy, innovative design. Can't believe I wasted so much of my valuable time. However, price was so low I'm tempted to just toss in trash bin after it's been in my house less than 24 hours. Not sure if I want to spend 2 or 3 hours to return it to store.
Battery IssueMayaIs anyone else having an issue with getting batteries in? It can't possibly be this hard to replace the batteries. And when I do, they get packed in there so tight, it feels like something hasn't been done right. I'm on the fence about buying another one because of this, since there is now corrosion on the battery contacts.
very good, with some care.Ericthey work fine for what they are -- not high-powered, not suitable for a commercial kitchen, but they hold up just fine for my couple-times-a-week use at home, blending powders into beverages. they can struggle a little bit sometimes, but they ultimately do the job. at one point, one of mine stopped working, even with a recent battery swap. before throwing it out, i decided to inspect and found that there was corrosion on the battery terminal. so i sprayed some isopropyl alcohol on a cotton swab, cleaned out the battery compartment and the positive pole of the battery, put it back together and we're still in business several months later! so try that before throwing away a "dead" one. batteries are a bit of a pain to swap, but at this price, i'm willing to suffer a little bit. no big deal.
