Agree with others, the seal does come out if overtightened so experiment to find the right leakproof tightness for your bottle. But if you loose it, try the Ikea spare parts service, its' wonderful: congratulations Ikea.4

Handy water bottle Anonymous reviewerI wanted a small water bottle for every day use in the warm weather that would fit in my handbag. This is the perfect size & better than refilling plastic ones.
There has been complaints of losing the seal that keeps it watertight so I am being mindful of that.

Good, but….. Anonymous reviewerGreat value water bottle. Lightweight with none of the flavour interference that I have had from plastic bottles. Unfortunately the seal in the lid is prone to coming loose and needs to be checked to avoid leakage… not good for phones and other items in ones bag!

Sadly I had to buy other bottle. Lastly my other child had the same problem, leak from the lid because it was fragmented!
I kindly ask IKEA if they could sell the lid separately to avoid landfill waste?3
